Have you seen the many unique buildings on the bustling streets of New York? Buildings might not seem important but in fact, buildings are very interesting. There are many buildings in this world which are made out of unique sizes, shapes, colors, textures and more! Did you know that the Eiffel Tower welcomes more than 7 million people every year? Also, that the Taj Mahal welcomes more than 7 to 8 million people in the world? According to research, unique buildings improve cities. Sometimes construction workers can make unique buildings easily but other times, it does take effort and time. Most rewards include management and growth. Let’s dive into the history and meaning of the Burj Khalifa and the CN tower.
The Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world. It consists of a 163 story building. Not only is it the tallest building in the world but it’s also the tallest freestanding building in the world, previously held by Toronto’s CN tower. The Burj Khalifa also has the largest observatory deck. It’s built out of a variety of materials. It’s made out of concrete, glass, embossed stainless steel, and steel reinforcement. Since nature can’t be controlled, buildings can be built with safety and endurance. The Burj Khalifa is shaped like a Y which is why it can withstand wind. Dubai is not directly on a fault line, but it’s located on the edge of the Arabian plate. It has a strong concrete base, which means that it’s designed to handle a 7 magnitude earthquake. Did you know that the Burj Khalifa is struck by lightning 10 times per year? It is an important symbol of Dubai’s modernism. It also shows how Dubai is growing and changing rapidly. The Burj Khalifa is also known for being the world’s most popular landmark, with 17 million visitors per year. That’s a LOT of people!
Did you know that the CN is also one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World? The CN tower is in Toronto, Canada. The CN tower is the tallest building in Canada and the 9th tallest building in the world. It is the tallest free-standing structure in the western hemisphere. It’s 1,815 feet tall (553 meters). It weighs 117,910 metric tonnes which is as much as 16,844 large male elephants. The 360 degree restaurant at 1,151 ft from the ground completes one rotation every 72 minutes. Fearless visitors can also do the edge walk. If not, people can always visit the skypod or the main observation deck secured with glass walls. The CN tower symbolizes the strength of the Canadian economy. It gets struck by lightning 75 times per year. The CN tower is extremely special because construction workers have installed special LED light systems. Every night the CN tower lights up, with a variety of vibrant colors. When the CN tower glows blue it’s showing its support to the Toronto Maple Leafs (hockey team). When Toronto’s teams reach the playoffs the CN tower proudly displays the team’s colors. It lights up to all the colors of the rainbow as it is symbolizing hope, strength, and unity. Registered charities and national charities can make lighting requests as well.
Burj Khalifa and CN tower are open to the public. If you would like to learn more about the Burj Khalifa or the CN tower you can check out their impressive webpages. In the CN tower website it’s possible that people can see live views from the top of the tower as well as a virtual tour.
