Conversation 101
by Arnav D.
I’m moving and I need something precious
At making friends, I’m too self conscious
Buddy, could you help me please
Teach me how to start a conversation and I’ll be at ease
Challenge accepted, my friend
Let’s do conversation 101 from start to end
Start with a friendly little Hi or Hello
Observe something about them and try not to be a foe
Crack a joke or take a poke
A simple smile will also do
Eventually, with a laugh or two
They’ll want to become friends with you
Make sure to keep them entertained,
Play along if you have to
Try to find a common topic between you two
and make sure to remember it too.
Next time when you meet, continue where you left off
Remember the joke and remember the laugh
Act and talk like nothing to prove
and continue until you get in your groove
and all will be natural to you.
It’s different talking to a group
I’ll teach as quickly as a basketball goes through the hoop
Always remember the big four
Trust me, there’s nothing more
These four topics are the main core
Movies, Sports, Music and Food
Find a topic that suits their mood
Here’s step two dude
Say something that makes them feel good
Follow these rules and you’ll be in the hood
Last word of advice
That’ll make you seem very nice
Don’t blabber, believe me, you don’t have to
Talk only when you need to
Ending a conversation is easy
When you’re ending say, “I gotta go home”
Ask for their name
and ask where we’ll meet again
Follow this 101 start to end and you’ll get a 10/10
